'Modes, Disturbances, and Spatio-Temporal Location'. To appear in C. Rossi and A. Moran (eds.): Objects and Properties. Oxford UP, Oxford.

Abstract: This is a paper in descriptive metaphysics, arguing that modes (tropes) and disturbances (folds, flaws, scratches) fail to have a direct location in space, not mediated through their bearers. The paper also gives a novel, ontological account of Chomskyan examples used in the context of arguing against referentialist semantics.
